 Font เป็นกลุ่มของตัวอักษรข้อมูลที่พิมพ์ได้ หรือแสดงผลได้ที่กำหนดแบบและขนาด ประเภทการออกแบบสำหรับชุด font คือ typeface และการแปรผันของการออกเพื่อสร้างเป็น typeface family เช่น Helvetica เป็น typeface family, Helvetica italic เป็น typeface และ Helvetica italic 10-piont คือ font ในทางปฏิบัติ font และ typeface ใช้โดยไม่เน้นความแม่นยำ outline font เป็น ซอฟต์แวร์ typeface ที่สามารถสร้างช่วงขนาดของฟอนต์ bitmap font เป็นการนำเสนอแบบดิจิตอลของฟอนต์ที่มีขนาดตายตัว หรือจำกัดกลุ่มของขนาด ซอฟต์แวร์ outline font ที่นิยมมาก 2 โปรแกรมปัจจุบัน คือ true type และ adobe's type 1โดยฟอนต์ true type มากับระบบการ Windows และ Macintosh ส่วน type 1 เป็นมาตรฐาน outline font (ISO 9541) ทั้งฟอนต์ true type และ type 1 สามารถใช้กับเครื่องพิมพ์ adobe's postscript (ถึงแม้ว่า) adobe พูดว่าฟอนต์ type 1 สามารถใช้ได้เต็มที่กับภาษา post script

Typography is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make language visible.
The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning).
Type design is a closely related craft, which some consider distinct and others a part of typography; most typographers do not design typefaces, and some type designers do not consider themselves typographers.
In modern times, typography has been put into motion—in film, television and online broadcasts—to add emotion to mass communication.

  Font

In traditional typography, a font is a particular size, weight and style of a typeface. Each font was a matched set of metal type, one piece (called a "sort") for each glyph, and a typeface comprised a range of fonts that shared an overall design.

     In modern usage, with the advent of digital typography, "font" is frequently synonymous with "typeface". In particular, the use of "vector" or "outline" fonts means that different sizes of a typeface can be dynamically generated from one design. Each style may still be in a separate "font file"—for instance, the typeface "Bulmer" may include the fonts "Bulmer roman", "Bulmer italic", "Bulmer bold" and "Bulmer extended"—but the term "font" might be applied either to one of these alone or to the whole typeface.
